🤸 Sport, play and creative activities

Central West Gymsports

Children in Orange and surrounding areas can try recreational or competitive gymnastics, with KinderGym available from age one. The club also offers Ninja, FreeG, trampoline and other classes, as well as children’s birthday-party options. NSW Health Child and Family Health Services

Families with children aged from birth to five can access free help in Bathurst, Blayney, Cowra, Dubbo, Eugowra, Grenfell, Mudgee, Warren, Wellington and other Central West locations. Services include child health and development checks, referrals where needed, and information about feeding, sleep, behaviour and parent wellbeing. No referral is required, although clinic arrangements vary between towns.

Sustaining NSW Families

This free, voluntary NSW Health home-visiting program serves eligible families in Dubbo, Orange and Bathurst during pregnancy or shortly after a baby’s birth. Access requires an eligibility assessment and a referral from a maternity provider, doctor, or child and family health nurse. Veritas House — NDIS After School Care Program

Children with disability in Bathurst and Orange can join structured weekday activities during listed program periods. Free, youth-friendly support is available to people aged 12–25 through in-person, outreach and telehealth appointments. Areas covered include mental health, alcohol and other drugs, physical and sexual health, and work or study concerns. Young people and families can make referrals. Outreach extends to Condobolin, Nyngan, Warren and other listed communities, while rotating school-term social groups have limited places.

Veritas House — Youth Homelessness Support

Young people aged 25 and under who are homeless or at risk of homelessness can seek support in Bathurst and Orange. The organisation provides prevention and early-intervention assistance, while its youth refuges offer short-term crisis accommodation to eligible young people aged 15–18 following assessment. Access to accommodation is not automatic, so contact the service to discuss the young person’s circumstances and available pathway.

Mission Australia — Dubbo Family Support Service

Dubbo families with children aged 0–18 can seek short-term early-intervention help for low to medium-risk concerns. Assistance may include case management, parenting programs, education and skills training. Families can self-refer or be referred by a community organisation, with support generally provided for around three to 12 months.

Veritas House — Targeted Family Services

Families with children aged 0–17 in the Bathurst Regional Council area can access one-to-one support and parenting programs. Family caseworkers help with personalised planning, parenting strategies, service connections and skills for managing stress or conflict. Available programs include Tuning in to Kids, Tuning in to Teens and Parents Under Pressure.

Veritas House — Families Together

This voluntary, intensive program supports families with children or young people aged 0–17 who may be at risk of entering the child-protection system. It serves the Bathurst, Orange, Cabonne, Blayney and Oberon local government areas. Depending on family needs, assistance may include parenting and child-development support, practical help at home, advocacy and connections with community services. Support is generally delivered for up to 12 months, with referrals made through Veritas House.
